Not a fan of tattoo's here unless they are an impressive work of art and I mean the wow factor. I have only seen one tattoo on RHP so far that fascinates me. btw, Happy belated 40th!

Tattoos, well placed and designed can be exquisite and are a definite turn on for me. Not so much tattoo for the sake of one. They're becoming very commonplace and I think that is wonderful. Even if I don't like a particular design for whatever reason I really like that the wearer feels free enough in themselves to display art and/or something significant to them on their body... For display.

Tatts, You either love them or loath them. We both have Tats and don't care if the people we meet have them, as it's all about the person and their personality, not what's inked on their bodies.

Sorry but I hate them on women. You see a gorgeous women in a lovely dress or short skirt and then you notice the tatt! EEWWWW Very offputting they are. Please note I am NOT saying that I wouldnt like the person - it's their life and body. I just don't find them attractive. (before anyone on here jumps down my throat for not agreeing with the masses!) Pusscat xxx

Maybe something to think about in case you ever need one. alot of inks use synthetic iron oxide which is non magnetic..but not all .. some colours still have iron oxide that can heat up during an mri.. i heard synthetic iron oxide will eventually replace organic iron oxide ,that would make tattoos safe for mri ..

Several men from Rhp that I painted, and were having a rhp day on the 13th of october in Mandurah at Inqub8 gallery Its in the events thing yes I like them , but they also can be a problem in some cases. they date they can impact on how people judge you they fade you change your mind and it costs to get the off or you end up going over them with something else you whack your head cause you now have your x boyfiriend/girlfriends name on you some place. But yes, I drool at the gym, with those hottties with tats something primal and sexy about them.

In one way, shape, or form. Each has a story, a history, a place in my heart. "What are you going to do when you're 70 and have all these tattoos?" - personally, I'm going to tell their story. And I'm assuming that senility cannot overpower my affection for my ink :D and that in another lifetime (which will make me 72 :P lol) they will still mean more to me than the opinions of strangers. I mean, in all seriousness, im not going to blue rinse just because people think I should. Or wear pink. Or play croquette. I'm averaging a piece per decade at the moment. Seems like a good ratio ;D

we both have tatts, Shels are more discreet than mine... but we understand that a tattoo wont make an uncool person.....suddenly cool....or an unattractive person........ suddenly irrresistable.... on some people though, all they do is attract attention, and thats not always a good thing, as sometimes a tattoo draws the eye, to something, or someone, you wish you'd never been exposed to...lol..... gouge my eyes out now will you?

I find Tatoos quite a turn on. Probably because to me it symbolises rebellion and that "bad boy" image that is sooo different to my conservative middle class upbringing. I definitely have a weak spot for them. I also love hearing the stories behind them , whether emotional or artistic reasons. Minxy x

body mods are just one persons expression - tattoos are a statement of eternal expression, piercings are much the same as a well formed gym body, there while you want or need it. I see that you have a modified body with the gym toned and tanned body, let alone the permanant breast enlargement. This was and is your version of body mod ....... is there a real difference? You choose to make a statment in one way, we the tattooed make ours in another. And like you i havnt found anyone on RHP with tattoo's of real interest (your choice) - I havnt found anyone on RHP with breast enlargments of any interest either (my choice) So IS there a difference? in our choices of body mods? not really - just a differing taste

The question asked was ''Who likes tattoos and who doesn't.''Seems some people don't like honest opinions. No comments with the preference of disliking tattoos have said anything bad about people who have tattoos. They have only stated they don't like tattoos.A tattoo is not something we judge a persons character by.We have friends, co-workers, and some of us, even lovers with tatts. If you need an explanation why I don't like tatts. I'd explain it like this... I view the human body as a work of art, It does not need modifying.Compare it to beautiful car such as the Rolls Royce Silver Ghost....Would you paint graffiti on it? Graffiti may be too harsh a word. Would you cover it in art, dragons, flowers, etc.

Yes both John and Pro were artists who painted base model Rollers for a reason (their work). When John first took his painted Rolls out in public in England he was attacked by an old English woman with an umbrella, disgusted that he had defaced England's famous icon.So again I will ask the same question ...Would you put paint over a thing of beauty. (This time Google the examples I have mentioned)1904 Rolls Royce Silver Ghost recently sold at auction for $7million. Only several still exist.Another beautiful work of art, the 1931 Bugatti Royale sold at auction for $9.7million. Only 6 ever produced.Would you seriously defile these Works of Art
-

...but you're really stretching to make your point. The cars you describe are financial investments. You would not fit them with electronic ignition to make them run more efficiently nor would you fit them with modern steel-belted tires to make them handle more safely. Gimme a '74 Silver Shadow and I'd do exactly as I described. Gimme a '46 Buick and I'd chop the top and paint flames on the bonnet. Gimme a '48 Chrysler Windsor with suicide doors and I'd fit it with a Dodge 8 litre V10. It's called expressing yourself, which is just exactly what art is. Our tattoos aren't "defiling" our bodies. We like the way they look and we don't need the approval of a pretentious simpleton like yourself to validate ourselves. Ta ta for now.
-

I give an analogy to explain a point and receive an intelligent reply like..." Yeah, why the fuck not?Gimme a fully loaded Rolls and I'll have it resprayed in Harley Davidson Concorde Purple and we'll put gothic murals across the bonnet and along each side. Coooool.''( Who is stretching it to make a point? )Now Jensman you change your mind. You now refer to some cars as "investments' Now I'll ask you a question...Have a good think ( take all the time you need )What made these cars investments? ..................Could it be that they are in their original state of beauty, engineering excellence?Cutting the top off a 46 Buick is called building a Hot Rod.Being such a knowlegable man of cars you would know some of the greatest Hot Rot Builders in the world are in the U.S.A.Such as....Hot Rods by Greg, Lake Bluff, IllinoisAlloway's Hot Rod Shop, Tennessee These guys being the smart business people that they are, build Hot Rod Street Machines from the ground up, they do not destroy a historic works of art because they know they're worth more in their original state....and Jensman I'm afraid not everyone likes tattoos, does that make all of us pretentious simpletons? Only your opinion matters? Right? You had better look up the word ''pretentious'' before using it in a post of this context. As far as seeking approval from me? (LOL) Part of the question in this Post was "who likes tattoos and who doesn't". Would you like me to lie and say I love tattoos so you feel better about your lifestyle choices?I don't know you. You do not need my approval to do anything you wish. Go attach a light bulb to your head in the name of art if it makes you feel better.

pre·ten·tious /prɪˈtɛnʃəs/ Show Spelled<pri-ten-shuhs> Show IPA adjective 1. full of pretense or pretension. 2. characterized by assumption of dignity or importance. 3. making an exaggerated outward show; ostentatious. Yep, that fits. You weren't simply saying you didn't like tattoos, which would be fine with me, to each their own. You were likening it to defilng works of art which is insulting to people who appreciate tattoos. Calling a Rolls Royce a work of art shows me two things. One, that you are pretending to be an automotive connoisseur, hench pretentious and two, you know nothing about art. The medium of tattooing is an art form. The automobiles you mentioned are collectors items, you pretentious simpleton.

Love decent tatts on a guy.. I think it's the whole bad boy thing.. I myself have 4, and I know I can't wait for another..There is something just so primal about painting your body, drawing the eye to certain areas. I really want to get something just on the top curve of one breast. Something that just encourages a man to want to kiss it.. Not too sure what yet though...

It holds a very significant story behind a particular chapter in my life. One of which that I will never forget, and I am planning on getting more, but I like the fact that mine are covered and not on display, as they are for me. If others like them so be it, if not, that's cool as well. That all said though, and I must agree with ParadisePair, I think that tattoo's symbolic to certain events/people, etc is a great turn on, but just to say you have one, well, each to their own I guess. I looked at Joel Madden when he was doing the voice and I thought :"Hey Grandad, What's all that coloured stuff on your arms ?""They're my tatts Grandson""What do they mean ?""What do what mean ?" !?!?!?!?Forty or Fifty years from now, just picture a load of seventy year old men in shorts and polo shirts playing bowls and commenting on each others' unrecognisable "works of art".If tattoos do it for you, then that's your choice. They're just not my choice. I think they have become too overt.

Yes, Jensman I can see you are a man who appreciates art, having a tatt definitely automatically qualifies you.I have only 25 years in the industry and don't have a clue.As far as simpletons go ....You have taken a simple analogy and twisted it every which way because you believe being inked everyone is supposed to tell you how amazing you now are. Look in awe at those works of art you proudly have on display?Sorry to burst your bubble but its not the case.Wont be changing my view for anyone.I enjoy going to social events with the woman I'm with, suit and evening dress, strapless gowns and backless gowns. In my opinion (if i may have an opinion jensman and only if it's ok with you) there is nothing sexier, classier or more elegant than a woman with the perfect tan and perfect skin showing off her shoulders, nape of her neck, slender of her back in a backless evening gown.

Well done ink by a good artist is classy wherever it is and whatever it's of and also never dates - like any good art regardless of the medium, poorly done ink just looks cheap and looks daft as soon as it's done.

Like the majority of people who have responded to this thread, I have a few tattoos (3/4 sleeves on both arms). I can’t imagine myself without them. Most of the work I had done when I was in the Military, so I suppose you could say they are memories of a past life for me. I do think that if you’re thinking about getting tattooed that you really think about it. Getting drunk and wandering into a tattoo shop results in some horrendously bad tattoos. If it is something you really want, thoroughly research the Artist you wish to use. Make sure you see examples of their previous work and if it all possible speak to people who they have worked on before. Some Artists are a lot quicker then others and as they normally charge by the Hr, it can result in a big difference in cost. This more applies to the people who want complex designs or bigger pieces (Sleeves etc). The longer the wait, the more competent he or she is in their needlework. There is nothing wrong with waiting months to see someone. My guy is up in Brisbane and all of the times I have seen him, it has taken more then 6 months to get an appointment. He now owns his own shop and his waiting list is over a year, and I believe the results speak for themselves

Not really a fan of old school tatts, but today's colours and designs? God yes, I find them hot as, and more so if going along with certain looks that I fancy. Just an aside....fave pic. Pic on the net of guy whose entire back is a tatt of a naked woman from chest up, awesome artwork, woman looks real, her face below his neck, her chest the rest of his entire back, and his bum cheeks are her breasts. His cheeks look perfect for her breasts. Awesome artwork, looks great. Caption above the pic says...."worlds greatest tattoo" Caption below the pic says...."untill he went to prison".

Yeah, except in the old days they used pretty primitive (by todays standards) inks, needles and guns, penetrated much much deeper, and therefore much more prone to spreading and not retaining clarity. But, it's all irrelevant. If it's 'unrecognisable', you just get them redone. Like a paint job. Just another untattoo'd clown judging those that make a decision that has no effect on your life, at all...

...I'm not making any pretentions to being an expert in art, just in understanding the words I use. You don't specify what inustry you've been in for twenty five years (art, automotive, sex etc.) but it wouldn't be hard to believe that you haven't got a clue. It as a simple analogy, wasn't it? Very simple actually. Not well thought through or presented at all. I have no need for people to express admiration for my tattoos, my general appearance or even my character. My tattoo is presented only because it has personal significance for me so I have chosen to use it to represent myself. No big deal. I'm not trying to change your view on tattoos, I'm only trying to get you to recognise the offensive way you put them forward. You are very entitled to your opinion. "In my opinion there is nothing sexier, classier or more elegant than a woman with the perfect tan and perfect skin showing off her shoulders, nape of her neck, slender of her back in a backless evening gown." I do not have a problem with this opinion at all but tell me, how would you feel if someone were to express the opinion that the only people who would appear as you describe would be the gold digger bride to a trophy wife seeking, arrogant, pompous bigot? It's fine to express your opinion. Don't go disparaging others' opinions. ...Deal?

Fiend has a dragon on his shoulder and a cobra on his left calf.I'm more into tatts than Fiend is. He likes certain tatts on certain people, not that he actually cares at the end of the day, he can still appreciate a nicely done tatt regardless.I have my tatts up in our profile pictures and I personally couldn't give two figs if people didn't like them. I'm a clean skin of mixed heritage where there's traditonal tattooing on one side. Growing up away from custom I missed the rites of tatooing. I'd have them otherwise. I've got nothing against contemporary tatts and I have thought of getting them but being a black guy I chose not to. People shouldn't judge others because of tatts or anything but I get judged anyways. (by some that is) I'm so glad I didn't get one with my mate when I was a teenager. Like his it would look slightly worn and heaps corny...not that a red hot chilli peppers tattoo or their music is corny, they're still awesome!

I must say jensman you have kept me in good humor with our little tit for tatt for hours. I've truly enjoyed it and haven't laughed so much in quite a while. Can we make one thing clear here please.... Putting ink to paper does not automatically make a "work of art" just as putting ink to skin does not automatically make a ''work of art''.Yes it is expressing yourself..Express all you want but don't kid yourself it is a masterpiece. My analogy....''I view the human body as a work of art, It does not need modifying.Compare it to beautiful car such as the Rolls Royce Silver Ghost....Would you paint graffiti on it? Graffiti may be too harsh a word. Would you cover it in art, dragons, flowers, etc.''I find this a fair statement, but jensman you tell me you find it offensive. Pretentious simpleton, definitely. What's more, I cut and paste the definitions to illustrate the point. Your posts have been full of pretense, characterised by assumption of dignity, ostentatious and yet deficient in judgement. With the description of an arrogant, pompous bigot, I was trying to illustrate to you what you had done to us. You desribed your ideal of a sexy woman. I would be inclined to hear that and say, "Good for you. Sounds fine but it's not for me." I was pointing out that you would not like your opinion disparaged in that fashion and clearly I was right. I was not expressing my view of your opinion. The term "art" applies to the quality, production, expression, or realm, according to aesthetic principles, of what is beautiful, appealing, or of more than ordinary significance. It excludes things of a useful or practical nature like architecture or craftsmanship. That is why we have the expression "arts and crafts" they are seperate disciplines and an automobile does have practical useage so it is not considered art. Tattoos, whether you like them or not are an aesthetic form of artistic expression. I don't consider them to be "fine art" but definitely artistic. For you to turn around and say that we are defiling our bodies is very clearly an insult. How could it not be found offensive? Now instead of continualy crediting me with things I haven't said, take greater care with your own words. Unless, ofcourse, it's your intent to cause offense.

Let's face it...........Tattoos were once a thing for a certain few in terms of expression......... It now seems that some people of today are tattooed that would not do so twenty years or so ago. I suspect that you would find the people you describe unattractive, with or without their tattoos. You might consider that it's the tattoo that is significant not the body used as the canvas. Another thought, while most people have themselves inked to express something of personal significance, some may be aware of how they are being viewed by some shallow people to whom appearance is everything and get their tattoos to appear more interesting.

There is nothing worse then a great ugly tattoo all over someones leg arm or shoulder. It looks especially bad on gorgeous 20's girls with otherwise beautiful skin. Why would painting something on your shoulder make you look better? It doesn't!I think it is just an attention seeking thing for self centered people.

Well, he said, that if he's going to look at my sons while fucking me doggy, then I would have to look at his daughter and son while fucking him on top.......LMFAO......... Jensman you're not just a bogan but also a rude arrogant dick.Anyone with a view other than your own you have managed to insult. You have called people shallow, pretentious, simpletons etc.Now tell me dick....Wtf is that meaningful tattoo on that flabby arm you so proudly have displayed on your profile pic.. A dragon? Rat on steroids? A dog?Is that your best feature? No other pics? How many hours did you spend choosing just the right design to give you just the right amount of a bad boy image. So who is shallow and pretentious? And listen you presumptuous dick, I was in a 4 year relationship with a woman I loved who had tatts. I didn't lie to her either and she knew I didn't like tatts. As I said from the start of this post "tattoos do not make a persons character'' Once a Dick always a Dick. Isn't that right Dick?Yes dick I stated I enjoy the arts and taking beautiful women to social events, opera, theatre, etc. You say its not for you?Could I make a suggestion Dick......Instead of putting on your best singlet and footy shorts to take your girl ( shaza ) out for a big evening down at the local pub for $5 parma night, where you know all your drunken mates will be (all 2), drunk and yelling obscenities at your girl..... Why don't you hire a suit, allow her to get dolled up and try an evening of culture. You might be surprised.

I totally agree with you. Mr & I both have tatts that tell a story or have special meaning. I love them all and think they are very sexy on both guys & girls :-)

I don't have any and I am not a big fan of them on women but a well done tatt is still a nice piece of work. I just see so many dodgy ones that I couldn't beef hooked. Old saying Marry a Fat tattoed woman and you'll have shade in the summer, warmth in the winter, and moving pictures all year long.... Mike

...The entertainment industry! I want to thank you for proving all my points for me. I know it wasn't your intention and you're still oblivious to how you did it but I'm grateful, none the less. I'll be sure to say, "Hi," to all the drunks down the pub for you. ...Oh yes, and I passed on your suggestion to Shazza about a night out at an art show but she declined. She said (and I quote), "I like art but I can't stand the snobbish, stuck up twits that go to these things." I didn't realise that you and Shazza had previously met. I guess that's how you knew my name was Richard.

I like em on some people, for some people they represent something very personal..I have a group of friends and out of the 12 of us.. Im the only one without a tat.. And I will stay that way.. I like to be different.. lol.we are all different. but i do wonder, once they start to fade, will they get them retouched or just let them go that awful fadey colour? Imagine.. lol.. being 75 and your tat fading and turning up to a tat parlor lol.

sometimes tattoos have a religious or spiritual significance.I have a tattoo on my left shoulder,it is written in sanscrit OM MANI PADME HUNG.It is the Tibetan Buddhist mantra of compassion, also the mantra of the Dalai Lama. If you don't like my tattoo then you wont like me because it is a part of me,not just ink on skin, and I have had it for ten years. I know that jensmans tattoo has a similar significance for him,it is not just a pretty picture, even though I love pretty pictures. Like graffitti art, tattoo art can be beautiful and inspiring,if it's not, then it is not art. That doesn't mean it is still not significant to the person who has the tattoo,it is part of that person's history and represents part of their life journey.

I find them to be very attractive on women! I'm sure I would have bigger problems to worry about when I'm 70yrs young too!

(Shel has to be close to naked for hers to be in public view).. the naked unadorned flesh is incredibly attractive, and a sexy womanly body tells its own story...no need for ink/art/embellishments there....2 of my 5 sisters are heavily inked....one does artwork for a number of studios... both of them have had numerous cover ups and modifications of old tats, and both of them at some stage has felt like a social outcast as a result of being inked....it does impact on your appearance, and it does have those who are prudes, whispering behind their hands....whether you can cope with this is sometimes a condition of having them...or not.

I love tattoos, I've got four on my back and one on my ankle. They might not be totally unique but I wouldn't change them, especially the one on my ankle (a rabbit) as it symbolises something I love.

They are unique to the individiual and every one has a story, Now having had them a have soo much respect for the artist who does them and the person who comes up with the design. Myself I have two. One is a symbol hidden from everyone that I reflect on at times to remind me of where Ive been and where Im heading. The other I got because it looks so fucking good.

Quoting 'feloniusfossil' I went for an MRI, one of the safety questions was do you have any tattoo's, Maybe they wont do it if you have one, I don't know, I didn't ask. Maybe something to think about in case you ever need one.Aaaah, Felonius! I got an actual LOL out of that response.

I neither dislike them or LOVE them on a man unless it's a really ugly tattoo then I really dislike it (and there are some uuuuuuuuuuugly tattoos out there). If they have them, so be it.I'm ambiguous about tattoos on women too, if you have them (like I do) then so be it. But I don't hodge podge tattoos, like on here, one there. I kind of get off on things being symmetrical in my life and in/on things in general. I have 2 tattoos, first is my children's names on my upper back under my neck and the second which I only got last week is on my ribs and under my breast and it says: "And though she may be little, she is fierce" and has a quill coming off the E on fierce as if it was just written. It symbolises me, I'm short and petite and very fierce in all emotions and aspects of my life. Next one is going to be a Family Tree of Life, from hip to breast/shoulder, full of wonderful little symbols and pictures/letters for my relatives, friends and children. Example: my best friend and I have tea and cake every monday, so she will have a little teacup and saucer sitting on a branch. My brother in law drinks Jack Daniels (old No.7) so he has a & going on the tree somewhere. So it is VERY personal and for that reason alone I couldn't give two shits about what anyone has to say about it. /rant/ I have a big problem with FASHION tattoos. e.g the stars or bluebirds on the decolletage. Or the "footy player sleeve" as I call it, you know the one that apparently nearly all AFL players seem to have and they all look the same... UGH get some originality into you for goodness sake! /end rant/
