Totally Self Serving Posts

October 12 2009

Does any one else get a little peeved where a post is simply a self serving promotion. There are two in the past 24 hours hours that really seem to be just contact me sort of posts. I have no problem when a response to a post is self promoting good grief we all do that.   I am sure you know the sort of posts I am refering too.   Mike

You'd thing people would try to be a little suttle in drawing attention to themselves... Lolz.... call me next time you're in Sydney and I'll ply you with alcohol... Lmfao- you cheeky bugga. ...but i think live and let live.   Like any media content (and this is a form of media) we choose what we read and view, and the perspectives we form on reading or viewing it are out choice too. If you read something that you reckon is simply a veiled or not so veiled attempt at saying "come hook with me" either ignore it, or respond directly in a jokey way or whatever.     I mean these forums are designed to help people express their feelings, peaves, wants, etc whether these are self serving or for the societal good.   Quite frankly, I spend  a lot of time trawling them and find the points of view and topics raised fascinating, even when I have no prior experience/knowlege  about the topic at all. ie I had no idea what dogging was before I was on this site! I mean, I did not know the practice had a name :) All skooled up now!   Anyway, keep posting and responding, its great!   lovebitten xoxoxo

Posts that don't interest me or posts that I really think I have nothing valid to contribute to, I usually will read anyway if I have the time... I like to be surprised by people and the WTF??? reaction I have to some posts is quite fun :P LOL    So I don't mind the self-serving ones, really... The ones that annoy me more are the constantly complaining, nagging ones (be more polite.. answer more messages.. don't flirt with me.. read & memorize my profile.. don't do this.. don't do that..). I mean, really... how can you always expect people to behave or react exactly as you would??? Good lord, people, lighten up :P LOL

The sort of posts you were referring as mentioned in your last post used to be the bread and butter of the forums lolol. I don't read other state forums but if you go into the annals of the WA forums, you'll see what I mean I don't have a problem with them aside from the fact that those sort of posts don't interest me and can't say we've seen the ones you've used as an example but would prefer that people post them in their State forums as it isn't likely they're planning to meet out of their home state tho if that is the case, I think it would make sense to post in the relevant state forum/s then.CheersMrs P

Just speaking from a guest membership perspective those could be attempts to create contact to the other members of RHP that actually are active enough to even use forums.I know it doesn't detract from their annoying repetition and obvious attention seeking but it's at least a way for guest members (Esp. the men due to our huge numbers in comparison) to stand out from the crowd. It gives them a voice where the normal guest membership limitations wont allow.I'm not defending them, just giving another sides point of view.Cheers, HH

the more people post.. the more you can suss em out..  so who cares what the posts are of?  you get to glean a little from each one.i've spent today wasting time and bandwith when i should have been doing other stuff and i've gleaned 250gms of low fat sausage,  a box of floral scented tissue and two sore eyes.  what a winner!!LRE (stretching in his chair)
