Im pretty certain women have to be covered up unless on a specific "nude" beach. Google your state laws, that will give you the info you need. Google is your friend!

Sorry kisskiss but I hate that saying 'Google is your best friend' cringeworthy. People start topics or choose to comment/interract in a forum, to bounce off other people and learn from them, or just enjoy what they have to say, but real time responses, and they/we get told to google. Well I find that condescending, due respect. We all know we can Google 😉

I'm pretty naughty obviously hence was kind of avoiding commenting here. Simba 'I laugh in the face of danger' 😀 I have my own set of rules, but in respect or with respect to law, I've never been sure myself. I guess because you rarely see topless anymore, assumed it was illegal, but look even if it was illegal, who's going to enforce it. The person crying wolf would look like the biggest prude in the world. Seriously, I've seen chicks on busy beach areas topless, no negative response funnily enough 😉 life guards have seen worse than that, believe me, they've seen way more 😂😂😂 The only people you don't want to see you are the law enforcement people 😉 they stick around for a perve, then slap you with a fine, arrogant and no sense of humour ugh not a fan 👎

Cheers for reply. I was just wondering because I was down the beach running yesterday and decided to jump in for a dip, wasn't prepared so went topless. No one was around, it was only about 10 degrees but over 20 in. I probably woudn't do it on a busy beach, bit shy like that, but was thinking myself that you don't see it that much anymore and it very common overseas, hence the question. But it is a great feeling. Love it. Getting out was another matter, wind chill, freezing.

Omg you're gamer than I am, the water is freezing atm and yeah it isn't common for topless here anymore, more commonly seen and done lol when I was young. When I do now see a random topless woman in amongst a crowd, on busy beach I mean, it grabs my attention. I think 'go you' but I personally choose to move along a bit to a quieter spot, not too far, but I've wondered also, and I guess it's really because of children, then again the sight of breasts shouldn't offend even children, many started life attached to one 😉 I would love to see more acceptance of nudity, like in Europe as you say, but along with it, more policing of the creeps 👍

I also love swimming in the ocean. Nothing can compare with that ultimate feeling of being liberated. There are laws that allow it only at certain beaches. (Ms)

Who cares just do it. There are guys out there that walk around with bigger boobs than women and its perfectly fine even in public, use mine as an example . So if your at the beach showing some flesh and its only your boobs don't worry plead ignorance if someone fronts you. If they are offended just respond with "your face offends me so you better cover that up" :-) No matter what you do someone will be offended, walk down the street in a bikini - all ok, do the same in lingerie people lose their minds, what is the difference? (putting aside completely see through lingerie - mind you some swimwear barely covers up)

it is legal to swim topless on any beach in Australia, AFAIK the laws only apply to covering your genitals. Councils can have regulations about clothing for things like pools, but, that just means they can ask you to cover up or leave - not charge you with anything.

For clarification @mezmerisingeyesYes it's unfair that some men have a bigger cup size than me. I shall feel free to release my inner mermaid when the mood strikes me.

often surprises me though how you see people topless sunbathing at Southbank in Brisbane BUT they won't let you swim that way......(shrugs shoulders) ah well.... I had a rich dark allover tan for a number of years when I was younger, now I'm so white I look like a roadmap....and have a strong aversion to skin cancer. I still swim/camp nekkid anywhere and everywhere I can BUT I'm also more conscious of the health dangers. If I end up with skin cancers appearing from my younger folly they'll be on my inner thighs and scalp. Gosh I've had some god awful all over sunburns, the type where you feint or still peeling on your fingers and toes months later...

Yep re. Sunburn pretty sun conscious here now have melanoma in the family history but my younger years got fried. I try to avoid middle of day sun but do always love being outside. Plus I imagine burnt nipples and other umm sensitive areas could be a bit ouch 😬 - Posted from rhpmobile

One of my first visits to the nude beach, had an established bikini tan and was well used to lathering myself in cream, but I kind of forgot some parts hadn't seen the sun in a very long time, hence I had a man approach me and tell me my butt was looking very red lol he was an older man and I thought he was going to hit on me, was relieved when he seemed genuinely concerned. Then as he was walking away, he turned and said 'nice butt btw' 😂 The next morning, I woke with a very red pussy, boobs and butt, sore and I couldn't expose them again for a little while lol when I did, I enjoyed 😉 spending some time massaging in cream, or getting assistance with that 😇

Not announcing that on here 😀 my movements can't be made public 😉 op, no I don't have TV and hadn't heard of that show. Well Braden must be the millionaire. I'm sure as hell not 😂😂 Now what was the topic again, oh yeah topless, well at this time of the year, removing clothing outdoors would be very chilly ⛄ might require blankets, a warm body, swag or big sleeping bag lol I feel the cold, my fingers are numb now. Anyway, it's apparently not illegal so why are we all wearing bikini tops? Think of the money we'll save just buying the bikini bottom 😉

Fellow nudist surf lover here. :-) Section 61N of the 1900 NSW Crimes Act states the following: "(2) Any person who commits an act of indecency with or towards a person of the age of 16 years or above, or incites a person of the age of 16 years or above to an act of indecency with or towards that or another person, is liable to imprisonment for 18 months." (Part 1 covers 16 or under, and is identical but for 2 years instead of 18 months.) The issue here is that "Act of Indecency" is not rigidly defined. According to a leading Australian legal firm, to prosecute on this manner, the police must demonstrate: 1. That you did an act which was indecent or that you incited another person to do the act; 2. That the act was done towards another person; 3. That the person did not consent; and 4. That the person was over 16 years of age. The key point here, I believe, is number two. When you take off your clothes to go for a swim, you are not committing this act "against" or "towards" another person, and your intention is not to "shock" or "offend" (terms used by some other legal firms). Rather, your actions were for you and you alone. You could, if pressured, argue on this point. There is another, more troubling, condition, which is "that a reasonable person might be offended by the action", or that "a reasonable person might expect their actions to shock or offend". So if you are at a deserted stretch of beach, it is reasonable to expect that you would not be seen, and your act would be defensible. At a public non nude beach, you couldn't argue this, but you might be able to argue that it is not reasonable to be shocked or offended by the naked human body, if it is not being used sexually. Some people have argued this and won. However, even if an officer does not fine you and move you on, they *can* ask you to put your clothes back on, which is a lawful, albeit possibly unfair, command. If you stand your ground beyond this point, you are now liable for "disobeying a lawful command". That's the bulk of what you'd need to know, but feel free to ask any specifics. And don't let the fear of a prudish society keep you from bathing naked in all your gloriousness! S. - Posted from rhpmobile

I will try to behave decently in public, I'm not likely to strut my stuff in crowds lest the fun police swoop down and also shy 😉 . I have a mental picture of me arguing half naked with a police officer about their 'unlawful command'. Sounds slightly kinky 🤔 - Posted from rhpmobile

Alternatively, you might try the official nude beaches at Cobblers or Werrong, or some unofficial but traditional beaches like Little Congwong. I can't imagine too many raised eyebrows if you only went topless, most people would just assume you were easing into the nudism thing.

I never have any problems swimming topless. The local pool? Nobody bats an eyelid. The beach? Nary a glance. Swimming in the pool at home in front of my housemates? Life goes on as usual. Oh hang on, wait... what was the topic again?

We have definitely seen some women swimming and tanning topless (in Melbourne though). Frequently on crowded beaches such as St Kilda on a sunny hot day. Or sometimes more secluded on Brighton beach but we have seen many. I don't know about the law but it does not seem to be as strict here in Vic. As for Mrs she only goes topless/nude on nudist beaches. This was we are sure not to break any laws! ;) Now i would like to ask a question of my own. What about those sheer see through bikini/strings that weaked weasel sell? You can definitely see everything when its wet (where comes the fun)! So does it still count as nudity or obscene act if she still has a bikini on but everything is showing on a public beach? - Posted from rhpmobile

Some years back , topless was popular even on the main beaches in and around Sydney . That changed for some reason and the practice became less popular even though there were some doing thier thing. Either that or the days I went are the days they covered up. I'm talking public beaches here , not nude . Nude beaches still did what nude beaches do..
