Swingtown

May 18 2011

We have become huge fans of 'Swingtown' (ABC2 8.30pm Monday Night). This show caused a massive stir when it aired on prime time in the US. Curiously I read in a couple of Swinger's Newsletters that it didn't really represent what actually happens in the scene or show swinging in a positive light. Yes it is set in the 70's and of course we don't all have sexy neighbours to crack on to but we have found that a lot of the ideas in the first few episodes at least seem to be very much, true to life. Has anyone watched this show? What do you all think?

we didnt know it was on telly? saw 1 episode online somewhere...thought it was ok. Good to see the subject is out there, and maybe creating some talk among married couples. We look at some of our neighbours and say "yeah they might be players" then hide inside...cause they're scarey...hahahah. Whens the party at your place, we will pretend to be newbies who just moved in.. B

We watched the 15 odd eposodes a year or two ago, and were dissapointed when it ended. We want more! Bring it on ABC with a second series but from ABC comments on the series at the first showing a lot of pressure was applied to shut it down. (think it was ABC who made the series could be wrong ...a USA crowd) Of course the ending had to be in line with main stream USA morals and discredit swinging, but never less it was excellent entertainment value for us even if a bit cornie 1970 stuff we liked it. Even a key scene in there somewhere. The two posts above us say it may be a trigger to initiate couples to discuss swinging.Which is good! Excellent show, another good one we watched recently was "Shortbus" a neat message in that movie.

HiWe've watched a couple of episodes but keep missing it. From what we saw, we thought it was good in terms of getting the subject talked about but I don't think it de-mystifies the whole scene though - suspect it will raise more questions than it answers. Will be interesting to see whether the series continues.None of our neighbours invite us to parties that end that way.....dammit!;)J

If it is, Channel 10 had it on TV last year, about midnight. Thank god for Foxtel IQ.Was a terrific show but I think it only went for one season. We are going to tune in again as it was very enjoyable!
