Reality, ....really?

October 06 2012

I walked into the loungeroom today and the kids were watching Wipe Out Australia. When this was over, none too soon I might add, it was followed up by Big Brother. Didn't that knock the wind out of my sails? While watching these programs, through ever narrowing slits in my eyes, I could not help but wonder. What possesses a person to participate? Is there anyone here who would subject themselves to this kind of national public humiliation and scrutiny? ...Why?

Wipeout, I think, is more of a game show than a "reality" show....kinda like Wheel of Fortune on acid.Big Brother? Social engineering at its worst.....get a bunch of carefully selected personalities together, sit back and let the mayhem ensue.Same with Survivor, The Amazing Race, etc., etc.Big(ish) prize money for the winner, and maybe a shot at fame and the celebrity lifestyle...If the networks want a true reality show, come follow me around for 6 weeks. It'll be very boring, but a whole lot more real..

I often think the same thing about Play School but many a fine actor got his/her start there.

When I was younger, we didnt have any video game.. So, we use to run around the neighbourhood Yep, you got it.. ACTUALLY beating up people of different ethnic origins... I swear it was a lot more fun ..   caveman reality

Seeing is believing. Then again, empirical evidence can't possibly be trusted, can it?
