Photography advice

October 23 2015

I'm interested in glamour or stylised photography sessions for men, if they exist, that won't break the budget. It is difficult to take shots of yourself (selfie or self timer), that advertise your features or character in an alluring way. I've asked women that have quite a variety, and generally they've had help, either from like-minded friends or from professionals. I'm seeking to enhance my online profile imagery (for typical reasons), with some flattering but perhaps non-identifying material. Also to not be overly glamourised if I was to meet and not match those expectations. The two full photos I have were with a self-timer. But it's a case of multiple - take a shot, check it, move yourself (go back close to where you think you were) or move the camera, try again - before you're happy or just had enough and choose one! Any suggestions? Or, as an alternate note, how much value do women put on a man's photo gallery? There's been much mentioned on what is a turn-off, but what are the fail-safe turn-on shots/angles, if any? Obviously much is highly subjective.

take a shot, check it, move yourself (go back close to where you think you were) or move the camera, try again - before you're happy or just had enough and choose one! Yeah, that's exactly how I take mine, it's hard work! I should really get a remote. One tip I do have there is to place a standing mirror behind your camera so you can see yourself on the LCD screen. At least it helps make sure you're actually in the frame. As for what I like in pics: A torso/full body shot with a smiling face is my favourite, especially if it's bit different. You could have taken a mirror selfie, but thought about your bath pic and and put real effort into it by the looks of it. Any photo that looks happy, relaxed, creative and thoughtful makes me think that the guy in it will be those things too.

are better than most I see, love the last one, you couldn't do any better than that, you're showing yourself the way you are, you look great. And there's nothing wrong with taking bathroom selfies, that's what I do, unless I'm outdoors, then POV, but guys love my pictures, and they know what they're looking at is real. I wouldn't go to the expense of getting glamour pictures because from my end, or at least my opinion is they look staged and not 'real' and I think natural is always best. I hate seeing women's profiles where they're done up with caked on makeup etc, looks like 3000 pictures have been taken to get one good one, we don't need that, always keep it natural and real. It removes the question marks from the mind of people looking at your profile, that's all a profile needs to do, give an idea into your personality and clearly show yourself, in a fun way. Happy days. Yours is good, few tweaks but I wouldn't bother changing too much

Mine are all selfies apart form a couple which a friend took. Get a lover to take some, you will feel comfortable and get good natural poses? Your photos are good, I like a smiling face photo myself. I disliked the ones with big fish in them til a guy explained that its a "Im a Hunter" thing

big fish photos don't do it for me either haha I always wondered why they put those kind of pictures in and wondered if they were using the big fish to hide behind but that's just me being suspicious

While I have the bath, I don't have a full length mirror here, only a face height one on the wall... but I'll have a think about what other shots I can achieve on my own.

Regarding a recent trend... I'm not sure the undies hanging from my hairy feet and legs will be a good look!

You need good equipment and the ability to edit the images afterwards (Tweaking the colour and light balance, NOT painting in six packs sort of editing). Like everything having the right tools will get you the best results. I used a tripod for mine with studio lighting and camera connected to the laptop so I could see the results as they were taken. I'm an amateur photographer and would be happy to assist in getting some pics for you.

I take most of mine with a self timer too, and your comment made me laugh because you're spot on with with your description. Take shot... check it out... realise you're half out of shot... change position to where take you think you should be... take another shot. And repeat over & over again till you finally get it right! Phone selfies are fine, but they can be limiting in terms of the poses you can get into. Seen some profiles where it's just the same pic over and over again, with only a few variations and you get bored scrolling through them. Less is more sometimes guys :). Yours being a case in point OP, only 3 public ones but they're creative, show enough of your body to let us see it's pretty damn fine, and the smiling face is always a winner :). But maybe take up MysteryMr's offer to do some new ones for you? He sounds like he knows what he's doing. Mine are a combination of selfie off the phone and 'glamour' (in my PG's) taken with the self timer and old school camera. I have to say I'm a bit over them and need to take some new ones... just gotta find the energy now.

Koko, I've just had a look at your photos, and have to say they're a lesson in how to take selfies. And having met you, I know that they're a 100% accurate reflection of you... fun, sexy and beautiful.

I think it's actually pretty damn sexy to see hairy masculine legs with underwear around the ankles... Again it's about how you take the picture.
