Pet Names?

November 28 2013

A post reply to another forum post got me thinking about pet name and names you call your significant other, either in times of love, annoyance or just because your just to lazy to say their full name ;) DK calls me 'Cutie' and that's pretty much been my pet name since we started dating 2 years ago. I simply call him 'Babe' cause obviously I'm not very creative lol So what do you call your significant other? Do you have one pet name that simply covers it all or do you have multiple names depending on the situation? Taby.

He is no longer my significant other but we are still close enough for us to call each other darling. I often call him "my love" or "my gorgeous man" When we were together he called me "Bub" Both the loves of my life have called me that. - Posted from rhpmobile

I call a particular lover gorgeous and beautiful. Not sure what he thinks of that? He has never said. Or I call lovers spunky bum as well. :p

I love pet names... mostly. My ex and I had a ridiculous pet name for each other that I'm slightly ashamed of, we called each other "mine". Over the years it turned into something resembling "myyyyyy" delivered in a silly voice. It was cute, but very unusual I think (set me straight here if anyone else has done this?). Despite claiming possession of each other this way, neither of us were possessive in the relationship, YAY for that (I needed to qualify that before haters be hatin'). A recent lover took to calling me "pookie" which I instantly hated... which spurred him on to call me that incessantly (23 year olds! Right??). I love playing with names and words to make up bizarre-but-somehow-cute pet names, it's a really personal and warm way to show affection (as long as it's not because your name has been forgotten) and can be really fun and playful too.
