agree and disagree... you need to expand your thinking a little more there is karma from this life and past life there is choices that lead us to some bad and good results there is also life lessons which come in all forms, good or bad.. there is lessons in them all... I had the end of year from hell last year.. what defines that for me, is not that it happened or that it happened, but how I coped with it and came out the other side an even better person.

are actually quite complex...Westerners usually interpret karma as referring to what happens in this life....do something bad,it will bite you on the bum,do something good you will get your reward.....clearly this ain't necessarily so.....karma was originally a Hindu concept that has been incorporated into Buddhism.....What do I think?....it is quite possibly a way to frighten us into being good.....in the same way the Christian Church does with sin....Or it could be about our relationship and connectedness to all beings, all the earth contains....treat everything well, there will be benefits to you and others....Why do bad things happen to good people?....unfortunately they just do....if you really think you are experiencing bad karma, according to the Buddhist teachings you can purify it...but that's another journey xx Q

that what goes around comes around (I need to be careful using this phrase as it landed me in court with ADVO) and I also believe that you attract the energy you put out. I am going through a bit of a self pity party at the moment and I know I have to get out of it because I can almost feel the negativity coming to get me. The onset of shitty cold weather gets to me almost religiously every year!! So sorry for being a grumpy bum :)

Quoting 'Passion8_l'In my opinion when you’ve suffered traumatic experiences your bar is lowered such that you will accept more shit than others would in the same situation. Therefore you become a victim and allow bad things to happen to you. I think what you're describing is a self-fulfilling prophecy. In my job I work with many people with traumatic pasts who seem to attract more of the same. For some of them who were abused it means they find or attract new abusers. Others feel they don't deserve anything nice to happen to them, so their standards are extremely low and they'll let others take advantage of them. I hope you're ok.

Two types of shit. One type is uncontrollable shit, ie stuff your unable to control with a conscious action or decision. The other is controllable, and is quite the opposite. The difference between the two are quite often skewed in moments of an invite only pity party. But.... All it takes, is just one decision to look at only what you CAN influence by your actions/decisions and fuck the rest, it'll sort itself out. Seems easy huh??? Fuck yeah.... Doing is the problem when you feel so far down the shit pit you need goggles. But it's not impossible. :) - Posted from rhpmobile

great question, do feel that karma is used more in a negative light than a positive when something bad happens,,, the word karma is sometimes used as a way for someone to suffer or a word used to get back on the horse - Karma is I think best referred as ..... "won lotto again"... suggest it be Karma ...... thoughts?

I think shit happens, not for any reason at all that arseholes can win just as nice people win just look at the news or around you how people treat each other not a pessimist but a realist.

I don't really believe in karma and as others have said it's original concept came as about as more of a 'past life/future life' concept. As I don't personally believe in reincarnation, I therefore don't believe in true karma. I do try to live my life on a 'do unto others as you would have them do unto you' basis though, or as a famous physicist said 'Do unto others 20% better than you would expect them to do unto you, to correct for subjective error.' I don't think living this way means that the universe will always reward your behaviour though, and unfortunately, sometimes crap things happen to good people and good things happen to arseholes. Also as Meander says, sometimes people get trapped in a cycle of shit (sorry, paraphrasing somewhat) and find it hard to get out. As for the OP, I hope your life improves, be it through natural progression or hard work on your part.

Karma exists count on it . Its a debt you pay for actions and reactions and wrong decisions we make through life take it as far as you want break it down disect it whatever you do it stays the same karma is karma end of subject !! You my dear are confusing the issue with lifes lessons we learn on our journey good and bad ups and downs highs and lows negatives and positives . Miss passion the answer to your question is your question !! Do not blame karma do not blame life do not blame anything change it ok . I know you are a very smart woman but seriously passion8_1 its a very simple answer do not complicate simplicity . The answer to your problem question is in the question itself . See how we can confuse things and make them complex now what was the problem ahhj quantem physics no no no the question is the answer to your problem your question your words your answer your problem ???? Fix your thinking change your problem ! Fix your problem change your thinking ! Problem fixed ? Good thinking! - Posted from rhpmobile

if karma carries over into your next life i must have been Hitler. At least I'm on par for a good one next time round. Not gonna be reborn as a promiscuous, chocolate eating, rainbow shitting unicorn or anything, but maybe a janitor or a cab driver, which will be nice step up. Do i believe in karma...? Not really. I'm not religious, but i try to live by "do unto others as you would have done unto you", not because i believe in any sort of cosmic balance, but because i think its the right way to be. I in no way expect others to have the same attitude towards me (in fact i expect the "every man for himself" ethos), but it makes a pleasant surprise when others do. Living by Karma if you believe it or not is a good way of being a good person... Unless of course you're aiming for a cockroach, rat or lawyer in your next life. In case you can't tell I'm having a crappy week, wonder what that says about my karma?

In some cases I think Karma does happen good and bad I have seen it many times, and then there is the "Shit Happens" where from out of the blue bad things happen to good people and they certainly don't deserve it, it is like the Universe is trying to send a message, or maybe giving us challenging experiences and it is how we chose to deal with and get out of these situations. I also tend to agree with Meander that some seem to attract the same type of people in their lives but probably unaware they are doing this - like Ground Hog Day these things keep happening until they realise then make changes to stop this cycle. It may seem like I am covering all bases but have observed these thing through life and it definitely seems to hold true. Some people seem blessed in life and lead a relatively trauma free life sure there are ups and downs and challenges in life but nothing too catastrophic, on occasions it could all go smoothly then big dramas happen, some cope some don't know how to deal with it. I guess it is all part of the Big plan and the Universe is trying to send us a message.

We believe that as our life journey progresses through different lives we have lessons to learn before moving on to the next stage of the journey. The lessons may be humility, loss, happiness, bereavement, pain, joy, you name it we have to learn it. So at times it may seem we are trapped in a particular sense of being and we might say it's karma as we are receiving what we believe we have coming to us. Who actually knows what the truth is. What we believe will not suit everyone so it is up to individuals to make their own personal beliefs that help them understand life. - Posted from rhpmobile

I think I need to clarify, although my post may have appeared to be laced with negativity and self-pity it’s not how I feel for the most part. Yes, I am going through a bit of a tough time at the moment and was having the discussion about karma with some friends, I thought it would make a good forum topic and since I always enjoy reading the different opinions of the regulars I decided to ask the question. I do believe that things happen for a reason and always try to look for the silver lining. That’s not to say that I don’t ever feel sorry for myself or negative about life when shit happens. Sure I indulge but no more than anyone else and I don’t think there’s anything wrong with that, just part of the healing process. My fault is that I analyse everything to death, always questioning whether it was an action on my part that contributed to the outcome. Sometimes it helps me learn from the experience and others it serves no purpose at all because I am my harshest critic so it simply shatters my self-esteem. Thanks to those that contributed. Agree Ladyshai, I too believe that what I have been through has made me a stronger and better person. Q - I'm hearing you, I was educated in the Catholic education system.... I shall say no more Ralf74, yes agree totally there is a point where you need to stop indulging and move forward otherwise you get stuck in a negative mindset. I hope you're feeling better soon Meander, yes it's what I meant you just said it much better than me :) Sir - You are absolutely spot on All it takes, is just one decision to look at only what you CAN influence by your actions/decisions and fuck the rest, it'll sort itself out. That is definitely something I need to work on, much more simplistic than my usual which is to analyse everything to death, what can I say I am scientist it's what I do :) cressa - but what about when what's come around hasn't gone around!!?? Strallberrie, you are quite right, karma is thrown around a lot when something has gone wrong Lady T, agree that sometimes shit happens for no reason but at times we can bring it on with bad decisions or our actions Born_free - I also try to live by this and don't necessarily believe that the universe will reward me but it does help me face myself in the mirror each day. Bigocean72 - I have work to do and no time for riddles, so you I will save for another time :) Dryphuz - I will admit to feeling like that sometimes. I hope your week improves :) Felonious - A man of few words, thanks for your input Dragonfyre - You are covering all bases but you are right, I have seen this too.

I am who I am I dont do things or treat people in such a way ensure my future. I dont attend church to pay god for my entry into heaven. I don't believe people get what is coming to them....many examples....... I could not fathom what we had done in a previous life to dish out such horrors in this......think about it. I once read that to wish Karma on someone is just another form of hatred (or words to that effect).

karmaˈkɑːmə,ˈkəːmə/noun Kind regards Aqua bumps (school of practical philosophy) No matter who you are some bad shit WILL happen to you... it's your ability to be resilient, overcome obstacles and drive on the correct side of the road that will prepare you for success. While I support peoples right to believe, I am more of a believer in probability...... for example if you drive on the wrong side of the road long enough you will have a nasty accident..... if, however, you sit on the floor under a triangle chanting a mantra its unlikely anything will happen. The term was coined by Jesus wanna-be-look-a-like vegan hippies who frequent yoga classes and drive environmentally unfriendly cars emblazoned with conservationist stickers. (in Hinduism and Buddhism) good or bad luck, viewed as resulting from one's actions.

The only person who can change ones life, is the person themselves.....we are all in control of our own destiny.... Really who knows how it all works, how it's supposed to work, I just work on the theory "you get what you give"... If it works it works, if it doesn't then oh well...... It's my life, I will take hold it, enjoy it, love people who deserve my love, indulge in things that put a smile on my face, align myself with good people, laugh out loud and do a lot of positive thinking.....💋

Good topic 👍. I believe with every action their is a reaction..... Positive attracts positive & negative attracts negative... Things will happened good & bad and how we will deal with it defines who we are!! I do believe in karma & she works in all various ways.. Sometimes bad things happen to good ppl as good people can handle these circumstances and teach other ppl how to get through these times 💚 - Posted from rhpmobile

passion8_l there is no point in wasting your time and energy on people or things that don't or can't change, I always think of the serenity prayer when facing a conundrum, some people are high maintenance and usually it is their problem not yours but they like to make it your problem and your fault, getting caught up in their dramas and accusations is draining and a waste of your precious time and energy.

I find when I can see the positives in a crappy situation you can let it go If nothing bad happened to anyone how would you appreciate the joys or happiness of other times in our life every one has a story non worse or more sympathetic of another it's still traumatic for that person Some don't understand they even have hurt another some put across they don't care and it'll never be there fault and mabey never understand I try to be understanding and will always try forgive if someone genuinely is sorry for things that's happened and understand I'm no angle either and have a level of blame for everything I've gone through it's our lives we only get one go I like being happy and doing what I can to help others I belive good things will always come and I appreciate them allot more when they do and find I'm more happier and have allot more understanding for others than I had years ago it's life I'm living the ups and downs I feel the best I can It always feel bad and devastating when uncomprehendable things happen at that time when you can see it as a positive and it's is my opinion but can see that you have a level of blame yourself for things that happen you can move on a better happier person it's how I've always been yes don't get me wrong I've cried and sobbed and been in places I would never wish on anyone ever but I'm ok I'm still hear it can take ages and it's never easy but I don't think I would change a thing I wouldn't be who I am now Look at a bush fire it destroys everything till it looks like there's nothing left after time and rains a whole new life begines sometimes you can loose everything and everyone but after time and a good cry you can start life again may as well your still breathing - Posted from rhpmobile

The concept of karma is bandied about by many. Unless you can remember things that happened in previous lives, (if you believe in reincarnation that is) such as you doing harm to others, or good even, how can we possibly know? I have worked in the same job all my working life. Over the years I have witnessed many good and suspect behaviour of so called 'do gooders'. What I tell young upcoming grads is, treat people the way you want to be treated. Imagine it is you on the receiving end of what is being done to them, and do it in a humane manner. Act in a manner as if you were being observed at all times. I am not perfect, but I do try and act this way as much as I can. Life is not always fair or kind, it is just life.
