How do you solve a problem like Mirena

October 02 2009

Okay so, question to couples useing Mirena (coil) Sal had hers put in sometime ago and every now and again, when I"m going deep i can feel this... well this painful stabbing pain, like each thrust I was being hit on the end of my nob with the end of a coat hanger!!  I tried to be delicate about it, but today sal was riding me like a prize pony and I let out a involuntery yelp.  I said "YELP" and she's all 'what was that' and so i admitted the her shagging me hurt sometimes. To which she got all shit and started talking about wanting me deep, demanding it and that she didn't want a second rate shag. She then hit me with a frying pan and stormed out... A) Help me help me B) does anyone else have similiar expererences with this.   Okay i may have exagerated some of this story.   andy

Andy,     I have to agree get the snip done it is so much easier for guys who do not want babies to take responsibility for birth control. It is a quick half day procedure that is reversable if needed.   It is much more involved for women on any level for birth control even the pill has all sorts of issues.   So if babies are not a factor then just bite the bullet and have it done...   gawd i am all serious in this post...     Mike

My best mate had a similar issue, she always wanted a few inches lobbed off him (its over a foot long) and she had the copper in and it would sometimes give them problems.....then one day it all stopped....they didnt think to find out why....seems a rather vigourus drunk rooting session shoved it right upin her and she ended up needing a general to get it out and she was touch and go to have kids....It all worked out int he end....but if Sal has a little box or you have a monster cock.....then maybe try another form of birth control....or just have (more?)  kids anyway....your not getting any younger and a crying baby is the best form of birth control you will ever get....by the way....it was the fry pan you were exagurating about????? Sal would surly have used a vibrator from the top drawer to bash you with.....

Lolz.. I remember that dang coil... I just can't remember if my wife had one or one of my previous gf's...lolz.   Anyway.. three kids down and I got the doc to make a few adjustments down thar. I squirt like a garden hose and taste just as good as ever... but you'll never get pregnant having sex with me, Andy. :)   Snipetty snip when you're ready. Go for a general aneasthetic... I had a local anaesthetic and man, I gotta say, getting a needle in one testicle was bad enough.. but when he said he had to do the other one as well, I was ready to bight my leg off to get out of there.   Hugs Gaz

l had the same issues, if you go to the doctor she can have the string cut back so you can no longer feel the string. However this makes it difficult for removal, so make sure she is happy with it before this is done. l had me string cut but unfortunatly was not happy with it so had it removed, luckily it wasnt to bad....Good luck.....

Well...its not the actual coil you are feeling...but the fishing line-like cord that is used to retrieve it.Have you tried the Implanon?? I have used it for the past 4 or so years...and the only downside has been less periods.(hehehe...not much of a downside). Some women have constant bleeding...so have to have it removed....but if it works for you...its effective straight away and when you take it out...its out of your system pretty much straight away too.If you are on the PBS it only costs around $5.Good luck...I hope you find a contraceptive that works for both of you.Just my opinion...BJxxxps....very clever heading too...although I now have that damn song stuck in my head ffs!! lmao!

I had a mirena inserted 5 months ago now and everything is fantastic - no bleeding or pmt.  You obivously can feel the end of the strings - your partner needs just to go to her gyno or gp and get them shortened and that will be the end of the problem!   Pusscat

Yes i have felt that when going deep. however it is not always about birth control. It can be a blessing for those with painfull periods. Is the best thing the missus has ever had she says.

Andy...Andy.... Andy... you do seem to ask for a lot of advice i see......lol 1. Cant Sal go on the pill? not everyone can of course, but if she want deep..... and you do 2, then maybe a change in contraception or no deep for sal...... lol dirty pool perhaps but you shouldnt suffer any pain you dont enjoy.... fair rule i think Sal?????.....assuming u can take the pill that is :) - time to compromise perhaps ??? 2. What pusscat123 says.... makes sense :) 3. not sure theres any merit in having your penis shortened - so dont bother with that if anyone suggests it. Thats just my nickelss worth though lol 2b :)

I had the snip a couple of years back and it was the best thing I ever did!  No worrying about the stray swimmer or making sure you pull out just as it feels oh so fucking good!  and certianly no....."oops! moments"And a couple of days of black balls and walking funny is a small price to pay for the removal of all that other stress........

this is not an  "old fashioned contraceptive"....  It is a very effective treatment for  Endometriosis and other conditions. The mrs used to have 5 days of crippling pain until her doc put her onto this. It is not just a contraceptive but a life improvement. People choice of contraception is affected by much more than just what is easy. If you have a problem see you doctor, that is what we pay them for, to look after our health!!

We had the same problem when I first had the Mirena inserted and went to the Dr to confirm it was the strings which I then had shortened by over an inch while we were there, Mr P says he can still feel it but it doesn't hurt anymore. I suspect the snip may not work for you guys if, like us, the Mirena is extra contraception combined with the condom for during play with others CheersMrs P

I chose the mirena because unlike the pill it reeases the hormone to the uterus unlike the pill and other implants that release it to the blood stream. This means less side effects.Ofcourse, we did not realise this problem we now have, and from what you all say, if it is the string then I will try having it shortened and see if it helps, so thanks for all the advice :)       To IKnowWhatIwant.....we made an informed decision chosing this form of contraception after discussion with a Doctor at a womens clininc. It does have a lot of other benefits and yes is a very personal choice. We do use condoms when playing with others, as the mirena is great but the string does provide a track for stds. Some of you seem to think I am forcing Andy to put up with this pain and nothing could be further from the truth. You seriously think that the pill is the best choice a woman can make?????? And condoms, as I said, with others it goes without saying but as Andy is my partner we would like to go without when playing together. I have fallen pregnant on the pill and the mini piill meaning it is simply not an  option for me.

Please don't feel you need to justify your decision to anyone hon and especially to ill informed people who don't know the first thing about it!   IKnowWhatIWant...the Mirena is actually a relatively new form of contraception and there is nothing unsanitary about it - It wouldn't have been approved for use in Australia unless it was thoroughly tested and found to be safe.   I asked hubby about his experience when I had one (I was one of the unfortunate ones who suffered side-effects and had mine taken out after having it for a year).  He said that it was particularly 'uncomfortable' when I was on top but once I had the strings shortened it was fine so I'd say the strings are the causing the problem.  Easy fix and even your GP would probably be happy to snip them for you.  Just make sure that they don't shorten them too much - you still need to be able to feel that they're in place every month and if they're too short it can make for a difficult removal.

and thank heaps 2 balls for your very kind comment! HugsMrs PeachyPS: I've realised that some people thrive on negative attention and there seems to be a lot of them in the forums lately. I'm hoping if I follow the advice I was given about the school playground... ie; ignore them... they'll get bored and go away Something else I learned at parenting classes that I shall endeavour to practice rather than preach... is to pay attention to the behaviour you want to encourage...

Iknowwantyouwant22...things have progressed considerably and the mirena is unlike the original IUD devices.....and it is even being used in some cases to ease menopause symptoms...!!   For me personally it came down to haemorraging every month or have it fitted...see i couldnt have tubes tied as this would have made the bleeding worse....   and as a single mother who wanted no more babies i wasnt going to trust the vasectomy, or even tubes being tied...a friend who had her tubes tied and another whose hubby had the snip....were both pregnant same time as me...!!!!  i took the responsible route and looked after me...   as for problems.....i have had none...no complaints....love deep sex....   it was the best decision of my life!!  and VERY VERY VERY much an individual choice!!

Thank you for your response :)   It sounds like having the string shotened is worth trying before making the decision to change to something else, so thank you all for the feedback.   xx Sal
