gonna wait til the crowds die down a lil bit. as a general rule, big crowds piss me off....plus i heard 3D is the way to go and think all those cinemas are heaps tiny and i don't really wanna have to get there an hour before the screening and wait in line cos ill eat my super-king-size-popcorn and mega-jumbo-coke before i even get in.

LOVED it. The technology of 3D was just mindblowing. I think Cameron has really raised the bar in this genre. So, the story line is a tad basic - good/evil, forbidden love etc - but what the hell, I lapped it up. White if you are buying the popcorn and choc bombs count me in. Consider it a date. Joanna

Just a quick point on this amazing film..... It has nothing to do with "Avatars" of the kind we see online where pople have a lttle caricature of themselves.....or a Wii charachter designed to look like them....etc (hope I xplained that properly). I had a conversation with one of my fave (and sexiest) people on this site just recently and like some others I have spoken to, she assumed the film was along the lines of Japanese manga/hentai type stuff....the name is misleading as an Avatar in James Camerons film is not like that at all. Far from it. The film has very adult concepts, some graphic violence although not a lot and devastating destruction. It transports you to the most amazing world I have ever seen captured on film......for once the hype is lived up to and I felt the full range of emotions and was nearly crying at several stages (and you thought I was a tough as boots ol dog !). The messages and over- riding theme of the film reinforces that greed is NOT good and progress for the sake of anything else is a flawed philosophy with often catatrophic effects on native peoples and the environment. Strap yourself in, Avatar is one hell of a ride... PS. You MUST see it in 3D and wide screen if you can..... Dog.

Found out today it' in 3D on IMAX...but it's all booked ou til Feb next year!!!!! BUGGER.....if only I knew.I'll definatly be seeing it again, I saw it on the small local screen so missed the full effet,but it was still pretty amazing. Bad Dog....clarification.The Avatars are genetically made up of the native and human dna so that they resemble them in everyway...nervous system,physical ability,facial features.Seeing as an avatar is a representation of yourself in another medium....I think James Cameron is right.Considering how much money he's spent to make the film you'd think he'd research the name abit yeah?? And as for being hentai style....what planet did you friend reside on for the last few weeks? Pandora?? ;)

Oh my god i thought Avatar was an awesome movie that takes you on a journey where you leave reality behind and become embedded in the movie and this new world where every thing is just mind blowing , especially with 3d that is some crazy technology i have never personally seen anything like it and will definitly be watching it again with mates. as for the strong points in the movie the obvious is good vs evil and romeo and juliet forbidden love style romance but i find the stronger ones are bullying on those less powerful and it also hugely reflects on how people will destroy beautiful and amazing things that they do not understand just for greed and money. the way james cameron portrays the mining industry and the way it pillages the land is spot on in countries other than ours soo many people get a really bad deal on there end. (although i must admit i work in the mines ) The amazing thing is he wrote this originally 15 years ago and the concepts and the designs and amount of creativity that has been put into this movie has paid off and it all works together to make a movie that will be hard to beat. So if you have not seen this movie go down and watch it ha ha and definitly 3d i wasnt too sure at first but im sold now and the new 3d glasses are not red and green but just dark glasses with a red and green tint you cant even see the colours and very comfortable and totally worth it

The movie made me cry, it made me laugh and I couldn't have been more satisfied with the ending. Love seeing the underdog come out on top... for a change.Beautiful, beautiful graphics... IMAX would be worth the experience. It felt like an excellent reflection of the human race to me, the few good, the few bad and the bulk of indifferent who just do as they're told or what everyone else is doing. I had ultimate admiration for those in the movie with the moral fibre to stand up for their convictions. Hugs... Deb {MrsP'}

okay...enough of the jim cameron back-slapping!!! like everyone else who stood up at the end credits of this movie i was agape...but i wasn't "touched" the characters were skimmed over, not much development of any of them, they me left waiting more, the pretty pictures around these hollow thinly scripted CGI's wern't enough to rate this movie in my 2009 top 5(lucky to make 10th) same story told with more class and soul, almost twenty years ago...DANCES WITH WOLVES best 2009 film was DISTRICT 9 (please hire it, watch it) it's only one mans opinion...we all have one...but not all that glitters is gold....says it all

I saw Avatar in 2D a few weeks ago and in 3D last night. Gotta saw I was pretty disappointed in the 3D version. That may come as a bit of a shock since everyone seems to be raving about how it is in 3D but I've honestly seen much better. I went to Universal Studios a few years ago while a 3D Terminator short film was being played. THAT was a good 3D film. Every time there was an explosion bricks, bits of concrete and other objects flew out of the screen as if they were gonna hit you in the face. Avatar in 3D just had things standing out of the screen a little bit. It was still good and worth seeing, but that Terminator short film is gonna be very hard to beat for 3D effects.

I refuse to watch Dances with Wolves again... and the funniest thing, after checking with Mr P' because I couldn't remember if I'd seen it or not, is that I refused to even finish watching 'District 9'... It's a wonderful world, ain't it!!!... Cheers Mrs P' Quoting 'XXXhibit' okay...enough of the jim cameron back-slapping!!! like everyone else who stood up at the end credits of this movie i was agape...but i wasn't "touched" the characters were skimmed over, not much development of any of them, they me left waiting more, the pretty pictures around these hollow thinly scripted CGI's wern't enough to rate this movie in my 2009 top 5(lucky to make 10th) same story told with more class and soul, almost twenty years ago...DANCES WITH WOLVES best 2009 film was DISTRICT 9 (please hire it, watch it) it's only one mans opinion...we all have one...but not all that glitters is gold....says it all

or it wouldn't be fair to compare... but I really disagree about the effects... we saw the movie in Midland Cinemas with glasses and one of the things the 4 of us agreed on was that the add at the very beginning was disconcerting the way the things {for want of a better description} seemed to go straight through our forehead.There were also floating lights and ferns and the tree seeds, all of which I actually couldn't resist putting my hand out to try to touch lolol... We were disappointed by the condition of the glasses though which were grubby and affect the quality of our viewing. All in all, the best fun we'd had for ages and I'm usually too hyper to sit through any movie that isn't holding my complete attention... now how do we get to see the 'Terminator' short film you mentioned?Hehe... hugs... Mrs P'

Whilst the animation was good, I found the story line too predictable. The movie reminded me of ‘Fern Tree Gully’ I saw many years ago. With all the hype surrounding the movie I came out expecting more.
