I think that term of Cougar came by way of Canada and younger men describing older women. The term came not from the older female classifying herself as one. I think the younger females are not so inventive of names as the hot blooded testosterone fuelled lovers of older women are. .

I think you call a male equivalent of a cougar a Manther,Silver Fox,Chita,Jaguar or a plum-chasing raisin which are far less negative... well all except the last one When i asked a girlfriend of mine that prefers much older men than herself she replied with..... Personally I despise the label. It's a put down and indicates the female to be predatory. Akin to your "dirty old man". There's 18 years between my lover and I. One person called me a cougar. Once. Learned not to do it again very quickly. I don't know the alternative is - "hot blooded woman" perhaps?

I don't like cougar for the implications of predatory behaviour... all kinds of people can be predatory. Also, in my mind, dirty old man refers to someone who's leering and smutty without any actual success in bedding partners. ie. the lack of real action makes him a dirty old man! Again, its unfair as many people of any age can enjoy sex. Personally I can't really think of anyone more than 10 years (approximately) older or younger as a prospect, because if they are in another generation then I tend to relate to them as either parents or kids.

I embrace the dirty old man title. I was dirty long before I got old, so it's a natural transition. Now I'm practicing for the nursing home. The signs of an overactive youth, I'm afraid... None the less, the Sleep apnea machine makes a great costume for playing pigs, the tachycardia has stabilised at a resting heart rate of around 120bpm for now, I'll have to wait in the queue for a plastic shoulder reconstruction and the good ol' enlarged prostate is easy to find if there's nothing else good to say about it. My blood pressure is under control finally, and my iron levels have increased back into the normal range now that the ulcer has stopped bleeding. It feels much better without anaemia. On the up and up, I do still have a full head of hair Mado, unless the dysplasia in my aesophogus changes for the worse. :) What's a guy to do?
