Hmm, we live by the sword, so maybe we should have to fall on said sword sometimes!....but yeah...i would be happy with a delete button! Sometimes i write stuff that i later find ahhemm...cringe worthy, mostly cause it was written with the assistance of Mr Vodka!and quite often i miss out whole words, the brain must go to fast for the fingers and the brain says skip that dude your not keeping up (memory buffer overflow...lol) and i still don't pick it up when i check it before i post...d'oh.Then of course there are the usual typo's but hey i never claimed to be perfect and tend not to spell check!Meh....its all fun (mostly) in the sandpit!Cheers Nev & sometimes in cahoots with Mr Alchomohol !

Being able to edit posts is always good when you make typos or just write something that makes sense in your own mind at the time but you later realise it was just blahblahblah. The only drawback I'm aware of with post editing is when people say one thing that causes a reaction to a number of people, then they go back and edit it to say something entirely different and act as if they never held the opinion the expressed in their first post, trying to hide their crap. That gets annoying and if that happens the person doing it needs to have the ability to edit posts removed.

I agree with you Mooka. (I wish we could do that with text messages too... haha). But I also agree with RippedRanga. I think it would ruin the forum if we could change our posts after receiving a bit of stick or bad feedback. Once you press "Post Your Comment" there should be no turning back. I propose we simply add a spelling and grammar check function... That would be great, not only from the authors' perspective, but also the readers' - some posts are very poorly written and difficult to read. As it would also remove the need to copy and paste from word, for those who do that, it would remove the inherited formatting issues that can result. I’m not aware of the process and cost behind installing such functions, but I reckon it’s worth thinking about at least. Other errors you detect after posting (addressing wrong person etc) can easily be cleared by writing a second post. Great post, Mooka. I think you'll get a good response from this one...

Perhaps not an "edit" button....but a "delete" button....but one which leaves behind a "such-and such deleted their post"That way...if you deleted something inflammatory....then at least peeps would know you did!Sounds better than people deleting their profiles altogether and posts then reading like a book with pages torn out.The "such and such" notification should appear EVERYWHERE there has been a post removed.....and if it is removed because of abuse...the note should say so.Just my opinion...BJxxx

Maybe a drop down list in which to choose a reason for deleting your post??Unless RHP deletes it...then it could say POST REMOVED FOR ABUSE.??What you think??BJxxx

i have posted on many a forum and when there is an edit button or delete button, when the topic gets to heated the person that caused or started an issue simply goes in and deletes or edits what they originally said. Then the forum takes a whole different aspect as no one can understand what all the fuss is about. I think we should just take a little time and thought before we post and realise that sometimes what we post may not be liked by all but is simply our opinion.. But as BJ would say, that is my opinion... Leesa

Not all of us were not born literists.. < ( how about that word' huh ) I dont even know if its spelt that way NOR do I care that much.. If the pureists in these forum are so damn uptight because some poor bugga miss spells a word or two. Thats their problem. I know I make mistakes at times and I have read where others do likewise. Its the subject matter thats important not the misspelling of a word or two for gods sake. If it reads perfectly' thats good. If it reads a lil like goobly gook..well' we know it in ourselves' so we dont really need to be told by the spell check police. Anyway Mooka.. your posts are usually readable' so I wouldnt be too concerned .. If you made a mistake' join the majority... Alls good...keep on smiling.. Mr JJ

It's slow as is with every posting requiring approval by admins..This can take days...if approved at all. Sometimes it just does not appear, despite conforming to Posting rules (ie not defamatory etc).Adding the ability to edit postings will require another round of approval before being accepted. Again..if not approved..there is no reason as to why.

If you haven't noticed...I like to write ! It's fun, it stimulates me and keeps me out of places I shouldn't be. I'm a big fan of paragraphs and grammar but I know some people struggle with this. An auto spell checker would be great, even a grammar check... although they can be confusing. Sitting here typing as I drink some wine, I realise that alcohol and the English language do not always go exist... in fact they are inversely related. The more drunk I get, the less able I am to spell and write ! I therefore would love the ability to delete what I write after I realise I said something when I was drunk that I shouldn't. I am fine with there being a trace or note saying, "Saturn once again fucked up, got pissed and wrote crap" ! Hugs Saturn

yes, for those who don't have their posts go straight through it'd be additional administrative overhead. But even without the ability to edit posts, half the things you wish you could go back and fix would be picked up with a "preview" step like most forums have - you can fly by the seat of your pants (or bareback if wearing chaps) and get a quick reply straight in - or play it safe and have a preview step.Worst thing i find is when you type a long reply, and their is the dreaded ASP.NET yellow screen of death, I often get a "validation of viewstate MAC error" .

Once Upon A Time... we had to record our thoughts on very unforgiving media... clay, wood, stone, then skin, papyrus blah blah blah. If mistakes were made, I'm guessing the originator of the document had to start again... Nowadays there is scope to change that as many times as one wishes. But I'm wondering; how many shots should we have before we say 'ah stuff it, I'm saying it and everyone can hear it'.?If I wander along to somewhere, oh, lets say for the purposes of discussion.. CI... and meet someone and say something I wish I could delete.. bottom line is.. I can't!!! All fair in love and war, so I should take my licks there, right.?Well, if I feel strongly enough to post in a place where there are most definitely strong intellects, clear minds, and experience... funnily enough, not unlike the forum of said club above.. SHOULD I be allowed the ability to retract/delete a statement that may be central to providing context to an ongoing thread/discussion.? Spelling, grammar and syntax aside. Do the concerns of an individual who may feel embarrassment/angst it matter enough to lose the crux of an arguement/discussion?RespectfullyNeil

You can get plugins for Firefox/IE which do spelling on everything you type into your browser. Problem is it's in YANK spelling.

our posts are letters sent. once you send a letter you can't unsend it, unfortunately. plenty i've sent and read later to think w.t.f. it would be handy but would take a bit of fun out of it i think. some of you guys might be funnier than you think. plenty of times i've sat down and read a string of posts and nearly wet myself laughing. (i know. i need to get a life).spell check would be good thoughEARL. P.s. I sussing out the shift key.Cool, eh?

whether you are a guest, premium or a platinum member dictates when your post goes up...i think guests normally take 24 hours or more, whereas platinums go up almost immediately...whilst (?)... or should that be while ?...people would like a way to moderate their own forum posts...i think some people would much rather have one which moderates the things they say in real life...for example, you meet a really hot chick and the first thing you say is "oh my fucking god!!...you are foolly sick babe!"...i mean..you really meant to say "hello, nice to meet you"...now wouldn't it be better if we could have that sort of editor....very funny nev...cracked me upcheersjose...

Many times I've come across a post by an individual which has piqued my interest and left me thinking, "I wonder what other topics this person has had some input on?". Also, and particularly for people new to the forum, it would be great to be able to search on a particular topic in order to see if it has been discussed previously. That, along with the fact it is a royal pain in the ass to try an voyage backward through the archives to find a particular post on a particular topic, indicates that we should have a search function. Come on RHP, add a search feature! I mean what are we going to do if Mrs. P disappears?Mr FF.

This is a little trick I have seen in other forums that do have an Edit (or delete) button. If someone does post something that you just know is going to come back and bite them on their arse, post a reply QUOTING their post. That way they can edit or delete their original to their heart's content, but what is originally posted will be kept in your post. It has proved quite useful at time - hehehe Mooka

I've voiced my opinion about having an edit facility on numerous occasions for the last 2 years or so. This is useful because we easily say things that can be read in an unintentionally hurtful way. If not an edit button.... then the ability to add a postscript to an already published post would suffice. Yes, a delete button would also be useful. Somethings said should in retrospect never have been said and remain on a public record. I know of members who have gone to drastic measures to delete things whihc they lament posting.... to the extent of deleting entire profiles... where a simple delete post button might have sufficed. I agree that it would be a useful stalking tool to be able to search posts by profile. Hugs Stalky

Hugs Stalky Peachypear and MrsPeachy63 were not deleteed by us to affect any of our postings but because we at that point intended to leave RHP but realised that people might worry. It is something I regret when I think of fav posts we'll never see again {the limerick on LRE's thread 4 eg, anyone got a copy???? Please?!? *batts eyelids*} and all the gaps we created throughout the forums.Might be back with my thoughts on the topic... Mrs P'
