U2-3D review

Even for a band that has built a career on amazing music and the embrace of any medium that can support it, U2’s new 3D concert release must have been a daunting task. With an enormous logistics load already in place for their vertigo tour adding a large percentage of the world’s 3D camera rigs to the equation can’t have been easy, but the result seems to be worth it… kind of.

Beowulf - Directed by Robert Zemickis - Starring Ray Winstone, Anthony Hopkins, Robin Wright Penn

The oldest epic tale in the English language has been brought to animated life on the big screen in 3d by director Robert Zemeckis, (Cast Away and What Lies Beneath), and the writing team of author Neil Gaiman (Mirrormask), and screenwriter Roger Avery (Pulp Fiction). With such a talented team behind the camera and a story that has survived a thousand years, it’s little wonder that Beowulf is taking cinema-goers by storm. Good Luck Chuck - Directed by Mark Helfrich - Starring Dane Cook, Jessica Alba

Starring the gorgeous Jessica Alba (Cam ) and Dane Cook (Charlie), Good Luck Chuck plays the light hearted comedy a little too loosely. Quentin, Quentin, Quentin. Do you have an entourage of yes men on your payroll? How is it that you've lost your way so dramatically? Please dont take this as a generalised sleight as your body of work on the whole is marvellous, but you're in danger of parodying yourself.

So after scaring the bejesus out of horror fans around the globe with his slow burning Wolf Creek, director Greg McLean has made a clear and conscious decision to embrace a few of the trappings his recent success has brought.
