Because at least you've tried. We can't control others so we are at the mercy of their ignorance.

We've at least taken single males out of the equation from contacting us so that stop a lot of spam.

Easy to sort out who is worth getting to know, based upon if they have bothered to read a profile or not.

    Single guys rarely read them.

We always read them, and we've had lots of people message to say they like our bio. Rarely single men 😆

Some demographics read a little ♥️

For some people a well turned phrase and thoughtful bio is a turn on. There's all kinds of people out there, who get hot for all kinds of stuff, so why not words?

I read the bios. And I also never get huffy when not all points are filled in. Everyone discloses what they want.
For me - if a bio or messages are too demanding/arrogant/job interviewy…then I lose interest immediately. I like things to be playful and flirtatious. If I was asked to go back and fill in the forms properly or be reminded to read and do my homework properly, I would just stop responding. Things need to be fun 😊

We feel that a profile “write up / bios” is very important - it is a way to list your likes and dislikes.

If a profile does not have a bios, then we ignore it. Our choice, preference & opinion.

Just as important (again in our opinion) are the profile fields/ drop down boxes. For example if we prefer non smokers, we would only look at profiles whose drop box says “non smoker” in the applicable section, Why would anyone leave that section empty ( unless they are hiding the fact that they are a smoker ?)

These tools are there for a reason - and that is to make it easier to screen people and to establish if they have the attributes that one likes. An empty & incomplete profile would thus be at a disadvantage, we feel.

I completely agree, but we can't really blame it on to one group. There are a lot of couples who don't really read the bio, they just ask for pics/invite to party just like single guys trying their luck with couples profile.

We find couples read them and often send a message with some reference to something in ours ,single guys obviously do not or disregard what’s in it ,if they send one ,and I often like to read others if we are catching up with someone or have met someone from here ,

Lots of reasons to have a bio. Many do read them and use them to decipher alignment - especially your target market.

As others have said... If you don't want messages from men & couples you can hide yourself from being seem by them, therefore removing the opportunity for them to message you.
    There's a few ways.
Go to settings/ privacy/ who can view my profile (and select matching only)
Or change your message settings to only receive messages from matching members (need to do that in your message area) The rest of the messages will be placed automatically in your ignored folder.

    Problem resolved 🤷🏻‍♀️

In my opinion, reading or writing a bio shows me if someone can be bothered or not. It doesnt need to be an essay, I'm happy with a couple words that give insight and it helps to start a conversation. I find Bios the best thing in a profile.

A bio description is the most important to me to see if the person matches what I'm looking for. No bio, no chat!

Totally agree. My bio is very basic. I don’t want to tell my story online. I want to engage with you in person and tell my your story to you in person. Then I want to know your story in person and actually interact with each other. Much nicer for the soul this way I believe 😉
