philosophical one liners

While laughing at others stupidity, you may want to contemplate your own comedic talents   (seemed appropriate for some)

Abstract thoughts are a lot easier then the concrete actions based upon them

The concept of beauty may be elusive, but a rose is simply beautiful

It is often your choice whether excrement is shit or fertilizer

Think about it !!!

It may be that your sole purpose in life is simply to serve as a   warning to others.*

and

Good judgment comes from bad experience and a lot of that comes     from bad     judgment (apt)*

Q: What’s the difference between a fanatic and a zealot.
A: A zealot can’t change his mind. A fanatic can’t change his mind and won’t change the subject.
~ Winston Churchill

Ooooooo I like This Post XMedusaX...........=)

My Favorites  are.........

Organized Religion is like Organized Crime; it preys on peoples’ weakness, generates huge profits for     its operators, and is almost impossible to eradicate.

  ~ Mike Hermann

The MIT Science Fiction society keeps a Bible in their comprehensive collection, as an anthology filed (by     editor’s last name) under ‘G’.
  ~ David Mix Barrington

A casual stroll through the lunatic asylum shows that faith does not prove anything.
  ~ Nietzsche

The fundamental cause of trouble in the world today is that the stupid are cocksure while the intelligent are     full of doubt.
  ~ Bertrand Russell

very interesting

Ok, here's my 5 cents worth (inflation)

Fools rush in where wise people tread carefully.

Do unto others as they do to you. Only do it first!

Sanity is only a majority vote (c) Me!

Life is too short to take it seriously. (c) Me!

We are here for a good time, not a long time. (c) Me!

The most beautiful Sakura (Cherry Blossoms) fall early in the festival. (c) Me!

And not a one liner, but very powerful:

Life is suffering because of desire and attatchment. Desire and attachment can be eliminated by following the eightfold noble path leading to elightenment. "The four noble truths of Buddhism" Buddha.

Everyone has a duty to protect those who cannot protect themselves.

Enjoy!

Smile. It makes everyone wonder what you've been doing and with whom!

God...philosophy turns me on!!

Thanks for the post Medusa!!

Unlike most of the stuff I learnt in the 'big institution', philospohy

is something one can incorporate into every day life. It effectively

elimintates arrogance and ignorance in one foul swoop. This is my

sanity pill...

Some for the sensitive RHP'ers:

Epictetus
"If you hear that someone is speaking ill of you, instead of trying to defend yourself you should say:

'He obviously does not know me very well, since there are so many other faults he could have mentioned'."
(Enchiridion)

Marcus Aurelius
"I have often wondered how it is that every man loves himself more than all the rest of men,

but yet sets less value on his own opinion of himself than on the opinion of others"
[Meditations]

Reality check:

Alfred North Whitehead
"Scientists animated by the purpose of proving that they are purposeless constitute an interesting

 subject for study."
[The Function of Reason]

Happy Thinking!!

one liners to think about!

When the fox gnaws, smile  :)

It is true that many mistakes look stupid with hindsight, but always remember that foresight is usually less clear

No matter how much it hurts, failure today just shows you a challenge for tomorrow

Food for thought :)

some more to think about

If you have it,[love] you don't need to have anything else, and if you don't have it, it doesn't matter much what else you have.

A man may sometimes be forgiven the kiss to which he is not entitled, but never the kiss he has not the initiative to claim.

The only true wisdom is in knowing you know nothing. A wise man does not need advice and a fool won't take it.

Those who criticize our generation forget who raised it.

I don’t know what the key to success is, but the key to failure is trying to please everyone.

enjoy
