Valentine's day 2010

Jan 25, 2010
Majere75    M 34yrs
Sydney

Tis coming up to the one time of year when the prices of roses align with the blood pressure of the lads and ladies.

The Victoria's Secret Valentine’s Day cattle-dog just landed in my lap to remind me to the big day, so it's time to go-a-shopping.

My question(s) to all fellow RHPers is:

What is the most ridiculous/strangest present you have received, what was the best gift and what would you like to receive?

The strangest one I received was a blow up sheep and the best was my free pass.

hehe

well the best and worst presents i got was from my ex xmas 2006 (have never got a valentines present)

i got a dildo (best) and an alarm clock (worst)....dont really know what he was thinking

but at least he brought me something hahaha

best present i could possible recieve would be

two hunky men tied in a red ribbon....to do my housework in nothing but a g string

ahhhhh

i wouldnt know...

having never received a Valentine's Day present....although I did once get a card...but Im pretty sure my Dad sent me that...god love him!
Funny how its usually the men though that say they dont believe in it...
wonder if they realise how devastating it is as a woman to hear your man say that???
I bet if there was a day that women had to buy their men beer...they would be all for it.

Just my opinion...

OMG.... 2 for 2 Valentineless :(

Maybe I should have asked who gets/does Valentine's Day...?

Even when I was single I would send someone I liked flowers on Valentine's Day (anonymously of course and only to the single ones) just so we would both feel good.

Nice idea Roxy... if the ribbon is long enough you can use it for more fun later...

Never truer words spoken Miss BJ *giggle*

I generally always get something for Valentines day (1...2...3...awwwwwww) be it chocolate, flowers - hand picked or bought, a teddy bear, something sexy, music, jewellery, a romantic dinner....

I can't actually think of a bad valentines day present....but what I really love is that hubby buys a single rose for our daughter every year... and that is enough for me :)

This year, however, I am hoping for the two naked men to come and clean my house too...as long as I can be naked too and cooking in the kitchen :D

Flowers????

No Valentines pressie I can really remeber............ummm maybe a little pendant when I was in primary school.

As for flowers I had to give birth before my ex bought me any..................really hard work for one bunch of flowers.Mind you that was the day before Valentines Day so maybe it was meant for both????

Now can we all share the 2 butt naked men

Please

That might be a good business idea for someone to start up.  Just advertise on RHP.

Hmmm. Passing my engagement ring to my daughter. Does anyone have a use for my wedding ring? Rotten thing only brought me bad luck and now yields bad memories?

Oh Trish....

now I too am comtemplating your navel *mmmmmmm*

I say sell the wedding ring and buy heaps and heaps of chocolate!

Dev...I must say that I am a big fan of jewellery too...a girl can never have too many diamonds! (spoken like a true materialistic snob which is sooooo not who I am LOL).  I think the lovingly hand picked flowers from different gardens around the block would be my ultimate fave of all time....(and that is exactly who I am....but it doesn't mean I don't still love diamonds...oh dammit....can't I have both?? *giggle*)

mmmm steak.

LOL... Steak and BJ day... I'll go the steak but pass on the BJ (not one for receiving oral).

Is good to see at least some people get a Valentine's day, restores my faith in romance.

Trish, I agree with Sonsie on the sell the ring idea... or you could have a jeweller melt it down and make something else of it, maybe a present for a loved one? (or sharp implement for an enemy)

Men in general....arent they the ones represented here? Or is

there some truth to the rumour that RHP men are in a league

of their own?...lol

I get where ur coming from Miss BJ and wholeheartedly concur.

Makes me laugh when I see the guys doing the last minute

flower and choccy run on their way home after work.......

Tho V-day isnt just for blokes to acknowledge their mate.

Statistically speaking, I know more women who use this day

to recognize the importance of their partner/lover/etc AND

the ratio of my male mates far outweigh the femmes.

How hard is it to do something special? More difficult

than the cure for ignorance me thinks.......

Valentines is for the ladies to give to men.

And in March is White Day which men give a gift to women.

To me this sucks!  Valentines should be a mutual day to show that extra LOVE.

this ^^^^ this right here. Well said. I'd always thought V day was supposed to be a two way street - not "shower me with riches, and if you fail to get it perfect I'll have a sulk" day. lol, that sounds a bit lilke WH (j/k ;) ) but thats "the vibe" of it it seems.

(not to say I don't do anything for Valentines day if I have a Valentine, but there are valentines who think its another day to be a princess and others who think its mutual - the latter being the ones you WANT to be your princess)

Interesting point... as a casual boink I still send flowers, choccies, stuffed toys or sexy lingere for Valentines day (jewlery and the candle lit dinner are reserved for my Fiancee as per Rule 12, Subsections a and b.).

As for only 3 days, don't forget Mothers day, Sunday mornings and the days on/around that time of the month.

Myname, I agree whole heartedly, it is a day for 2 (or more) people to show affection and grattitude for the relationship they have.

Now... what's this rumour about RHP men???

It's another example of commercialised exploitation.

My darling has a thing against commercialisation... for the last 26 years on Valentine's Day every year I have gifted her something with love and every year she returns the gift to the shop for a refund. I know she would be very dissapointed if I forget... and hey.. one of the bonuses for this system is that I could spend lots of cash safe in teh knowldege that she'll get it back. :p

One drawback is that she has never given me a Valentine's Day present. Do women give men Valentine's Day presents? IDK !

Valentines day

I have on numerous occasions bought gifts or made gifts for the special man in my life at that time...
But having him then tell me vehemently that he doesn't believe in it deters me from giving it....
Just sucks the goodness right out of the moment....sigh.

BTW...I dont expect anything but the recognition that he thinks Im special and a good part of his life...

BJ I am surprised by so many who have never received a card, gift...SOMETHING for Valentines Day. Thankfully I have not had that. *touch wood* The only hiccup was with my ex, who's birthday is on Valentines Day, but we either celebrated it a week earlier or later.

I agree with ya, not that hard to show someone how much you mean to them...geesh.  Hope the door didn't hit them on the way out BJ.

Gift from the heart or is it expected

I rather a gift of something simple thats given from the heart...where its unexpected..a candle light dinner at home with music playing in the back ground.or taking time together to do something romantic that doesn't cost the earth..lol
There where times when i was out and about id see something that my ex might like or wanted..id buy it even though
it wasnt a special occassion.or id do something extra special for him..just to say i was thinking of you.
So to me it shouldn't be just one day of the year we should show our love and appreciation for our most treasured,
spouse/partner

Further proof Sweet petite that you are by far and away the most amazing woman on this site. Down to earth and yet amazingly adventurous. The fact that nobody in Bunbury has snatched you up is criminal.

Too many women think that valentines day is a one way street, expectation to recieve is high. The thought of what to give is low. I generally provided my ex every year with a unique stuffed toy along with flowers and generally went out for dinner. Come the end I recieved a bottle of spirits, I love a drink but really for Valentines Day. Then she wondered where the spark went in our relationship. It's like trying light a match with nothing to strike it against, it ain't gonna work.

Hopefully all your Valentine's Day wishes come true

Back to the original question

Worst gift: One of those artificial roses in a plastic tube fingys wiv a horny devil soft toy...rolls eyes...when ya can tell ya then boyfriend that works at the airport has left it too late lol.

Best Gift: The biggest bunch of roses that had buds the size of small apples..they were truely unbelievable..never seen anything like it anywhere.  Even rang the florist to find out where they got them..apparently they were imported from Holland..not sure how or if she meant the plants and the roses grown here, but me felt very special and spoilt, and the gold bracelet was very nice too that came with it.  Actually was spoilt a lot by that boyfriend, wasnt just Valentines day, so agree with some of the other comments. Ya don't need a day to be reminded, just some do lol!

Hmmm what would I like for Valentines Day:  Well me knows what I would like, but dont finkies me will get...dreams are free hehe. Just hope me is spoilt a little or some sort of appreciation anyway. Or me will get me ruler out!

Spreading the love

Mumma I agree with ya 100%.  It is nice to get those little acknowledgements on other days other then Valentines day.  I myself dont reserve it for just that day,and like to pop a note in my partners bag, give a present, or plan a surprise.  It's nice to make them smile and let them know ya is thinking about them.  Just some are too busy, become complacent, take things for granted whatever, and need that reminder, shame really....it should be all the time..or one day they just may not be there anymore.  A partnership is mutual, not one sided with one taking and one giving or it wont last.

Am so with ya BJ, nice to receive as well. So for the ones that need a little inspiration on how to get those warm fuzzies happening on OTHER days of the year just to let ya partner know ya is special, me has put a little list together to start ya off.Ya can add ya own. They don't have to cost anything or be much effort, just as long as they show ya care.

Scribble a note on the bathroom mirror if you are the first to leave for work
A treaure hunt of notes leading to a surprise...which could be YOU!
Breakfast in bed
Make a compilation of your their favourite songs
Let them sleep in and clean the house so you have the day together
Take a norty piccie of yaself and put it in their lunchbox or coat pocket
Write a poem and post it to them...EVEN if you live in the same house. Nice to get something other then a bill in the mail.
Run a bubble bath with candles and champagne, if the bath is big enough get in too lol
Plan a picnic even if it is on the lounge room floor
Surprise them with a dinner, even if ya can't cook, at least try and arrange the take away on ya best china with candles and wine etc.
Make something..a  heart cake, a scrapbook, a knitted jumper
A single flower
A non sexual massage, that they didnt have to ask for.
But best of all is the spoken word.  Acknowledgements of affection, admiration and appreciation just out of the blue and not after sex lol. And no excuse if ya think ya will goof it up, then leave a note in the car, a book, on the pillow etc.

So get to it and spread the lurve. It can be contagious if ya let it.
