Profile Name: How Did You Come Up With Yours?

wiccan_beltane   Woman 44yrs

After having read a recent post about some profile names being a turn off, this got me wondering about profile names and what makes us choose the one we have.

I apologise it this has already been done and, I'll admit to being lazy today and not doing a search. I think we're all allowed to have the odd lazy day every once in a while, aren't we? So I'm taking mine today.

Mine started back when I first registered for a chat room for the first time ever. When I had to choose a username, I had no idea. So, I picked up my Book of Shadows diary and went to my birthday and had a look at the closest festival celebrated to my birthday, which happens to be the festival of Beltane (also spelt Beltaine at times), so beltane is always part of my username. If it's already taken, I incorporate "wiccan" in the name somewhere.

So, how did you come up with yours?

Profile names

Our profile name just came to me, probably because we can be playful at times, never gave it much thought.

I also suggested a profile name to some friends of ours who decided to join RHP and they still use it. I like to think that I am good at providing suitable profile names for people, much like the story of the old Indian chief:

The youngest son of a great Indian chief went to his father and asked "Oh
father, how did you choose the names for your three children?" The great chief
replied "My son, when your older brother was born, the first sight I saw after
the moment of his birth was a bear running through the woods; so I named him
running-bear. The morning your sister was born, the first sight I saw was a
beautiful star, so I named her morning-star. But why do you ask me such a
question, two-dogs-fucking?"

A turn of phrase can make a good title, or so I heard

A rare burst of creative wit when it came to mine. I hadn't even looked at the site much as I entered it as I was just joining up. Sometimes good names just come to me. Of course whether it's a good name is a matter of opinion. :P I've heard at least one person in chat only calls me Halo because she can't bear to talk to someone named Slippery.   At least my name isn't as off-putting as some of the others that inspired that other thread the OP is mentioning.  I'm just a little bit cheeky, not completely self-congratulatory and crass.  Well, usually. heh

a collection of things

I started here as focusliason which I got one drunken night with a friend creaing my profile by combining my place of employment and a club on the Gold Coast the I frequented at the time.

Then I left, buried her beside another friends profile from Tassie and enjoyed sometime on the outside for a while.

After 12 months away I was sitting on my Mothers couch when I got a text from a FWB who is on here asking me to check out a female profile...got Mother to log into her profile so I could check this other profile out. A few texts back and forth with my FWB and it was decided I should create another profile on here. Knowing me as she does, and knowing I wouldnt be able to stay away from the forums, old habits die hard lol, Mother suggested I incorporate 'focus' into my new profile name as inevitably I would sign off any forum posts with it (as was my habit as focusliason) so  Lost_Focus came in from the cold.  I initially just wanted focus but there is a couples profile on here with that name so had to think a little harder.

Sarah is what my equals call me.

Names

Great post, we have often wondered how different people come up with some really interesting online names.  Ours, unfortunately, is not too imaginative, but encapsulates our postcode and the two things we are looking for "fun" and "play".  Hopefully this lets other potential playmates know that we feel this part of our life is just that, not really looking for close friendships, but at the same time acknowledging that respect and decency is important in having fun, even if it is just for a short time.

Belonging to an earlier post, but names like "Fuktill2bleed" and "MassiveCock4U" don't entice us to communicate further.  A clever allusion to other cultural references will always guarantee interest however :)

Slippery Halo - we love your 'name' - Mrs F2P used to work in a very male dominated environment where the catch phrase (from the few women on staff to the very macho men) was "watch out, or that halo will slip and choke you".  We love reading a lot of the posts here, gives us a lot of good ideas and also different perspectives on how others view many matters, both sexual and otherwise.

And stalwarts like Felonius, Hesione, TuscanRed, Velvet and MikeandShel make even the most hamstrung topic more than interesting.  Just letting you know that we appreciate your candour and - mostly - considered and compassionate advice.

Stay safe and have fun xx

Oh, and forgot ..

Should also have mentioned Jensman, Wiccan, Little Red Engine and Lu as authors of some of the most amusing and perceptive responses.  See, it's like the Academy Awards, once you name one person in your speech, you name everyone, finish and forget that you never spoke about your mother.  Fail :)
